Cristiano Ronaldo could potentially become the first footballer in history to win the league's Golden Boot in four different countries
According to a report from RMC Sport, the 39-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo could potentially set a new football record with a victory in Riyadh.
Despite being eliminated from the AFC Champions League and trailing league leaders Al Hilal by as much as 12 points, making it difficult for Al Nassr to win any major titles this season, Cristiano Ronaldo's performance in the Saudi Professional League, with 26 goals in 23 matches, still sees him leading the top scorer charts, ahead of Al Hilal's Mitrovic (22 goals).
As per RMC Sport, with Cristiano Ronaldo having previously won the Golden Boot in the English Premier League, La Liga, and Serie A, if he ultimately becomes the top scorer in the Saudi Professional League this season, he will surpass Van Nistelrooy (Eredivisie, Premier League, La Liga) and Romário (Eredivisie, La Liga, Campeonato Brasileiro), becoming the first player in football history to win the Golden Boot in four different countries.
Cristiano Ronaldo won the Premier League Golden Boot representing Manchester United in the 2007-08 season with 31 goals. He was also crowned La Liga's top scorer three times representing Real Madrid in the 2010-11 (40 goals), 2013-14 (31 goals), and 2014-15 (48 goals) seasons. After joining Juventus, Cristiano Ronaldo also won the Serie A Golden Boot in the 2020-21 season with 29 goals.
