LA Galaxy is actively negotiating with Reus
According to English Media Outlet GIVEMESPORT, MLS Team LA Galaxy is Actively Negotiating with Free Agent Reus and Remains Hopeful of Reaching an Agreement.
Currently, negotiations between the two parties have been ongoing for over a month, with LA Galaxy meeting with Reus' team before and after the Champions League final. However, the media outlet revealed that the negotiation process has not been smooth, as the Galaxy's offer is limited, with a maximum salary of $1.7 million per season.
MLS allows each club to have three designated players whose earnings are not capped, while the annual income for other players on the roster must not exceed $1.7 million. The media outlet also reported that Reus has attracted interest from teams in the Middle East and Europe. However, if he were solely seeking a large paycheck, he would have signed with those Middle Eastern teams by now.
It is reported that another MLS team, Charlotte FC, also attempted to sign Reus and might offer more money. Nevertheless, if Reus chooses MLS, he prefers to join LA Galaxy. LA Galaxy has already reached an agreement with Charlotte regarding the exploration rights for Reus. MLS teams need to hold the rights to a player before signing them. Usually, in these deals, funds are only transferred after the player signs. However, in this case, Charlotte will receive some money upfront regardless of whether the deal is completed.
The 35-year-old Reus left Borussia Dortmund this summer after 12 years with the club. Last season, he made 42 appearances, scored 9 goals, and provided 7 assists, helping his team reach the Champions League final.
